The primary purpose of Air Conditioning is to 'condition' the air, to remove the moisture, and provide dry air. During rainy periods, outside air is cooler: when combined with your warm breath and damp clothing a car interior gets very humid, with windows quickly getting covered in condensation.
When you use air conditioning during winter—in combination with the vehicle's heating system—you’ll discover that defrosting and de-misting your front windshield is much faster. The treated air from the vents is dry, so the AC system effectively acts as a dehumidifier.
Save Fuel & Expense
A well-maintained AC system can reduce your fuel consumption. The main component of your vehicle's air conditioner is the pump, or compressor. Driven by the engine, if left unchecked or poorly maintained the refrigerant within the compressor may leak from the system.
As a result, the compressor runs harder to compensate for the lack of refrigerant, sapping precious bhp from your engine, resulting in higher fuel consumption. A regular system check can prevent higher fuel bills and damaged parts.
For a Long Service Life
Your car’s Air Con system is filled with moving parts that need to be used regularly. If you don’t use AC over the winter months some components (such as the compressor clutch) may seize up.
Full of refrigerant and oils that need to be circulated, leaving the compressor unused means its internals fail to be lubricated, causing wear and damage you might not notice until the first fine day when you attempt to power it on. This can mean an expensive repair, or you could be driving around without air conditioning when the warmer months come around.
